If you are a long time reader, you are probably aware that I cut the cord last October. I did suffer some withdrawal at first since I actually got rid of all my TV's (which were at least 15 years old but being Sony's were working just fine.) I just went cold turkey from basic cable to nothing so eventually I found ways to watch most TV online.
At first I found the Network sites. Some were better than others. Some have changed, like ABC, to require you to verify your TV provider to watch the most recent show. Eventually I found http://www.tvonline.cc/ which initially had all free programming but still offers some shows free ( I am watching SOAP, what a hoot!) and the first two episodes of every TV season for free which helps when you are playing "catch up". They offered me some free credit to their subscription based system so I still watch a bit since its a stable platform with no commercials and seems to have a wide range of channels.
Now I found Can I Stream It which is a free service created by Urban Pixels that allows you to search across the most popular streaming, rental, and purchase services to find where a movie or TV show is available. If the movie or TV show you're looking for is not available, just sign-up, set a reminder and voila we will shoot you an email when your chosen service makes the movie or TV show available. It's simple and fast.
Can I Stream It? breaks down the services into five categories: Instant Streaming, Streaming Rental, Digital Purchase, DVD/BluRay, and Xfinity Subscribers.
