Fun on the Web March 23, 2012 Rushing Waters

Ran into samples of Rushing Waters Fish last week at my favorite Metcalfe Sentry and was it delicious! I am always suspicious of farm raised fish so I asked lots of questions before and after tasting their products. I tried both the smoked trout and the trout spread. They were both fantastic! Now I want to try the salmon.

Rushing Waters Fisheries has been growing rainbow trout since the 1940's. "Tucked in the rolling hills of Wisconsin's Southern Kettle Moraine (between Milwaukee and Madison), Rushing Waters is one of the most beautiful fish farms in the United States. On 80 acres of pristine forests and valleys, 56 ponds are fed with crystal-clear artesian spring water. These deep underground springs maintain a very cold water temperature ideal for producing healthy rainbow trout."

"The chemical-free trout are grown without antibiotics and by using organic farm practices. The very cold 49°F water temperature year-round causes slower growth insuring premium quality, texture and flavor. The trout are fed a premium diet of non-animal byproduct feed."

You can fish (with their gear) or just order them to be delivered, go to their farm store, or find them at Whole Foods, Copps, and Metcalfe Sentry.

Fishing rules are simple. Use their gear and no throwbacks . . . you keep what you catch, no unaccompanied kids under 13, no swimming, drinking, or pets allowed. Aside from that, no digging for worms, they will bait your hooks, and clean your fish, if you wish. This could be a fun family activity or field trip year round.

Happy National Poultry Day . . . is it chicken for supper to break up all that corned beef you have leftover? It is here, I have chicken taco meat defrosting since I make it and package it into baggies in my freezer. Fun on the Web March 1, 2012 USB Devices

Well the hard drive is still limping along but my data is backed up and I do have a laptop so I guess its a plan. February was a tough month; glad to be done with it. Spring is on the horizon . . . days are getting longer and warmer.

Most of us use a variety of USB devices. From the very practical flash drives to card readers to the silly USB kitty or hand warming mittens, beverage warmers (chillers too), even an aroma therapy warmer, we all have our favorites.
