Fun on the Web May 25 2014 Happy 3 Day Weekend
The grand kids are here this weekend so I have to make a big breakfast soon. We like bacon best and then I will serve an omelet and rye toast with it because the younger one will be gone. He and the parents are playing in a tournament today. We are all gaming people, board games, card games, video games, and they also play games with figures.
My son runs a game store. As a matter of fact, The Game Store is what it is called. Check it out:

My love affair with games goes back to childhood, where my fondest memories are not of playing Monopoly or Life with other kids, but being allowed to play Rummy Royal with the "grown-ups". My Grandma and Grandpa had a club that went to each others homes on Saturday Nights, drank Manhattans, ate fancy snacks or a late supper, and played Rummy Royal with Poker Chips. I don't remember ever seeing any money change hands but it was special.
Nowadays, I have some friends who play but most of them smoke so I don't join them often. We usually have a potluck dinner first and play for pennies. It's hard to lose too much but once in a while you might lose $6. So it's not high stakes Poker but it's fun. I do have to come home and wash my hair before I go to bed but that's not the worst thing to ever happen.

Fill a highball glass with crushed ice and the Blue Curacao and White Creme De Menthe. Pour in the Smirnoff Ice and serve. May be garnished with a mint sprig if desired.

Fun on the Web May 15 2014 Drive Ins
Yes Virginia there still are drive in movie theaters near you and even an online drive in movie museum.

Here they are opening Friday, Saturday & Sunday May, 16th, 17th & 18th with Godzilla and The Amazing Spiderman 2. They are also advertising a live streaming concert of Jimmy Buffet on June 19th.
My local theater is pretty amazing since it is digital with sound played through your car radio. They offer a huge menu of traditional food plus items like churros and fish fry. They accept debit and credit cards.They even sell insect repellent. They have definitely entered the 21st Century while retaining an old time feel.

Remember nights where you played on the playground, waiting for dark and then got into your pj's and snuggled in to watch the big screen, maybe even from the back of the station wagon with the tailgate down. I just can't keep up. Can you? Google always has something I never heard of before and this one is not up there in the apps, even in the "Even more from Google."

If you are a long time reader, you are probably aware that I cut the cord last October. I did suffer some withdrawal at first since I actually got rid of all my TV's (which were at least 15 years old but being Sony's were working just fine.) I just went cold turkey from basic cable to nothing so eventually I found ways to watch most TV online.
At first I found the Network sites. Some were better than others. Some have changed, like ABC, to require you to verify your TV provider to watch the most recent show. Eventually I found http://www.tvonline.cc/ which initially had all free programming but still offers some shows free ( I am watching SOAP, what a hoot!) and the first two episodes of every TV season for free which helps when you are playing "catch up". They offered me some free credit to their subscription based system so I still watch a bit since its a stable platform with no commercials and seems to have a wide range of channels.
Now I found Can I Stream It which is a free service created by Urban Pixels that allows you to search across the most popular streaming, rental, and purchase services to find where a movie or TV show is available. If the movie or TV show you're looking for is not available, just sign-up, set a reminder and voila we will shoot you an email when your chosen service makes the movie or TV show available. It's simple and fast.
Can I Stream It? breaks down the services into five categories: Instant Streaming, Streaming Rental, Digital Purchase, DVD/BluRay, and Xfinity Subscribers.
